On October 16, 2012, Getty received a Golden Carrot Award from Food Matters Manitoba. Getty was honoured as a Media Community Food Champion for her enthusiastic and engaging efforts to promote local food matters.
The nomination recognized Getty for her VeggieDelight gardening blog, her role as promoter and founder of Fruit Share, her dynamic presentations at numerous conferences and events, her promotion of locally grown vegetables through the Farm to School Healthy Choice Fundraiser, her continuous social media presence and her overall passion for engaging people in projects and events that build community and connect people with the earth, their food and their environment.
