Healthy Together Now – Getting the Message Out Resource

Date posted: November 30, 2012

I was thrilled to be part of the Healthy Together Now Share and Learn 2012 Conference earlier this week.  Talk about an amazing group of dedicated individuals all working towards creating happier, healthier communities.

It was informative and inspiring to hear the stories about Healthy Together Now projects from communities around the province.  Here’s just a small sample from the first day. Nicole shared how Baldur started an After School Kids Club that gives kids who may not be participating in other organized sports an opportunity to be active.  Sally described the Immigrant Settlement Needs Assessment completed by the Seven Oaks School Division and how much insight they gained and how many doors a well-done survey can open.  Trina from Brochet wowed us with the variety of tasks she undertakes and the challenges of working and volunteering in an isolated, northern community.  Liz and Patti put a voice to suicide prevention efforts through their presentation on Hope North.  And Deana, Jeff and Irene provided just a couple of examples of Tobacco reduction programs going on around the province.  And that was just part of Day One!

These projects and the people behind them are exactly what the world needs to make positive changes one community at a time.  Thank you for your work!

In the spirit of the Share and Learn concept, I’m happy to share the handouts from the workshop I presented on “Getting the Message Out”.  The workshop focused on helping grass-roots, community groups promote their message to connect with participants, rally support and raise money.

The handouts can be found in this pdf.
