Are you ready for Mother’s Day? It’s this Sunday you know!
I’ll be spending Sunday at home with my family. If I’m lucky, I’ll be treated to the kind of breakfast in bed that only an 8 and 11 year old can create. I’m guessing that fruit will feature prominently in whatever they serve. They know me well!
On Saturday, I’ll be at St. Mary’s Nursery and Garden Centre where I’ll answer questions about prairie fruit and encourage everyone to pick up a copy of the Prairie Fruit Cookbook for their mom.
I know, I know – not every mom loves to cook and bake so getting them a cookbook for Mother’s Day would be as appealing as giving your mom a new vacuum cleaner, which I definitely do not recommend. In fact, let me be clear, DO NOT get your mom a vacuum cleaner for Mother’s Day!!!
If you’re mom does not enjoy cooking or baking – you should still buy the book (what did you think I was going to say?!)! Buy it for yourself and then make your mom the most incredible treat ever. Consider the following recipes which are easy to make and so incredibly delicious that you’re mom will be amazed:
Real Strawberry Shortcake
Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Chocolate Raspberry Cups
Raspberry Jelly Roll
Raspberry Almond Cake – gluten free
Strawberry Flan
Apple couscous for a light lunch or a spectacular side for a BBQ dinner
Chocolate Pear Tart in a Chocolate Almond Crust – gluten free
Pie – any kind – apple, strawberry rhubarb, saskatoon, cherry – etc.
Rhubarb Crisp – sneak the first stalks of rhubarb from the back yard
Good luck and Happy Mother’s Day!
