Hi, I’m Getty! Your Fresh Food Educator

As a Professional Home Economist, cookbook author, and experienced media spokesperson I show you how to select, store and serve seasonal produce all year round. I offer helpful tips, promote practical kitchen tools, and provide seasonal food inspiration for everyday home cooking. I LOVE connecting with home cooks looking to make the most of their time and ingredients.

I’m an outgoing, enthusiastic lover of food, family and nature. I was born in Germany, grew up on a prairie farm and studied Human Ecology and Education at the University of Manitoba. I have a husband, two young adults I will forever call my “kids”, a dog, two cats and a giant backyard in the Canadian Shield. Put it all together and you get ME!

My goal is to share easy, affordable, practical cooking skills to help home cooks make the most of seasonal food. I typically cook from scratch and am always looking for ways to help reduce food waste.

I’ve been sharing food tips and how to’s since the turn of the century😯! Today, I’m rapidly growing my community on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube with lively short form video. I’m honoured that my community trusts me and the wealth of experience and education I bring to the table as well as my friendly, practical style.
