How to Make Heart Shaped Apple Slices

If you’re looking for a healthy way to show your love this Valentines, here’s another, even easier option than the Apple Heart Switcheroo.  Apple heart slices.  I’m not sure who first came up with the idea, there are oodles of images for these on the web and I thank all of them for the inspiration.

Cut an unpeeled, un-cored but thoroughly washed apple into slices.  It doesn’t really matter how thick your slices are or whether or not they’re even – as long as you can get your cookie cutter through the slice you’re all set!

Use a cookie cutter to cut out the core of each slice.

Dip or brush all cut surfaces with lemon juice to prevent browning.

Serve as is, or reassemble apple, wrap tightly with plastic wrap and pack into lunch bags for a LOVEly surprise.
